Zürich

Zürich or Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland and the capital of the canton of Zürich. The city is Switzerland’s main commercial and cultural centre and sometimes called the Cultural Capital of Switzerland, the political capital of Switzerland being Berne. The city is situated where the river Limmat issues from the north-western end of Lake Zurich (Zürichsee), about 30 km north of the Alps.

Lucerne – Luzern

Lucerne (German: Luzern) is a city in Switzerland. It is the capital of the Canton of Lucerne.  From Wikipedia: Since the city straddles the Reuss River where it drains the lake, it has a number of bridges. The most famous is the Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), a 204 m (669 ft) long wooden bridge originally built in 1333, although much of it had to be replaced after a fire on August 18, 1993, allegedly caused by a discarded cigarette. Partway across, the bridge runs by the octagonal Water Tower (Wasserturm), a fortification from the 13th century. Inside the bridge are a series of paintings from the 17th century depicting events from Luzern’s history. The Bridge with its Tower is the city’s most famous landmark.

Eglisau

Eglisau is a municipality in the district of Bülach in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. This is a beautiful small village that unfortunately is growing to fast and in danger of loosing its charm. It is situated along the River Rhine and a great starting and ending point for some nature hikes along the river.
